Christian challenged ECW Champion Jack Swagger at Backlash 2009 for ECW Championship. ECW Champion Jack Swagger gave good starting to this wrestling match by dominating Christian with his wrestling performance. However, Christian surprised Jack Swagger with powerful slaps. Christian continued his wrestling performance but surprised by Jack Swagger with power game. Jack Swagger threw Christian to outside of the wrestling ring. Jack Swagger continued his wrestling performance with dominating wrestling skills. Wrestling fans encouraged Christian. Jack Swagger well estimated Christian and continued his domination.

ECW Champion increased pressure on his back with his power. Jack Swagger damaged his stomach area with his knee. However, Christian continued his wrestling performance. Jack Swagger made a mistake by jumping over Christian’s knees. Christian injured his head with tornado DDT but Jack Swagger surprised with powerslam. Jack Swagger dropped Christian from top rope and also dropped his body over Christian. Jack Swagger destroyed Christian with power slam. However, Christian defeated Jack Swagger through pin fall by using Jack Swagger’s cheap trick and became new ECW Champion.
