ECW Champion Christian appeared at ECW edition on September 22, 2009 to face #1 contender Zack Ryder. Justin Roberts introduced Zack Ryder and ECW Champion Christian. Zack Ryder gave good starting to this wrestling match with his wrestling performance. Christian slapped Zack Ryder twice by seriously considering his temper. Zack Ryder damaged back of Christian and gave headbutt and hand shots.Both wrestling superstars injured each other. Christian threw Zack Ryder to outside of the ring.

Christian later drop kicked and jumped over Zack Ryder from top rope. Christian and Zack Ryder reentered into wrestling ring. Christian continued his domination but dragged by Zack Ryder. Zack Ryder later dropped Christian’s body. Christian gave elbow shots and then drop kicked Zack Ryder. Zack Ryder threw ECW Champion Christian over steel steps. Zack Ryder increased pressure on his back. Zack Ryder damaged stomach of Christian with ring ropes and then kicked champion. Once again, Zack Ryder increased pressure on his back.

Zack Ryder made a mistake by jumping from top rope. Christian dropped his body and gives continuous hand shots. Zack Ryder dropped Christian’s body but received a closeline. Christian drop kicked Zack Ryder. Zack Ryder received a leg shot and received a drop kick. Zack Ryder dropped his leg. Zack Ryder frustrated. Christian damaged Zack Ryder’s neck with ring rope. Christian jumped over Zack Ryder and then defeated Zack Ryder through pin fall. Christian successfully retained his ECW Championship title belt against #1 contender.
