On January 29, 2010 in Smackdown, he retained his Intercontinental Championship title against John Morrison in no disqualification match.

On February 19, 2010 at Smackdown, he attacked kane after a wrestling match between Kane and Dolph Ziggler but punished by the kane seriously.

On February 26, 2010 in Smackdown edition, he lost to kane and his undefeated strike was also broken by the big red machine kane in a money in the bank qualifying match.

On May 7 in Smackdown edition, Drew McIntyre became uncontrollable and attacked Matt Hardy. Even he did not listen to Theodore Long’s order. He was fired by Theodore Long and his Intercontinental title was also taken by the Smackdown general manager. Later, WWE officials forced him to leave arena.

In November 5 Smackdown edition, he faced his tag team partner Cody Rhodes and MVP in a triple threat #1 contender’s Intercontinental Championship match but defeated by Montel Vontavious Porter.

He defeated by MVP in a Survivor Series’ showdown match at November 19 Smackdown, attacked Rey Mysterio to help Alberto Del Rio and participated in a battle royal as per Theodore Long’s order but eliminated by Big Show.

On November 29 at Raw event, he and his fellow king of the ring qualifier Ezekiel Jackson were disqualified because of double Count out but attacked by his challenger Ezekiel Jackson after this match.

He teamed up with Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler to win tag team match against MVP and Kaval in December 3 Smackdown edition.
