Matt hardy faced #1 contender of WWE Championship Edge at WWE Smackdown on January 23, 2009 in a no disqualification match. Edge tried to escape from Matt hardy at the starting of this match. However, Matt hardy chased Rated R Superstar Edge. Edge and Matt Hardy completely lost their control because this wrestling match was no disqualification match.

Edge used trash cane to injure Matt hardy. Matt hardy used Singapore Cane to destroy Edge. Matt Hardy made mistake by hitting to steel ring pole. Matt Hardy later injured Edge with steel steps. Suddenly, Mark Henry tried to attack Matt Hardy but Matt Hardy destroyed Mark Henry.

Matt Hardy gave twist of fate to Edge but ECW Champion Jack Swagger and Mark Henry destroyed Matt Hardy with power bomb and power slam respectively. Edge speared Matt Hardy and defeated Matt Hardy successfully through pin fall. Jack Swagger and Mark Henry appreciated Rated R Superstar Edge.
