On January 23, 2009 in Smackdown edition, Jack Swagger attacked Matt Hardy in a no disqualification match and destroyed with power bomb.
On February 15, 2009 at No Way Out pay per view, ECW Champion Jack Swagger defeated Finlay to retain his ECW Championship.

On April 13, 2009 at Raw edition, ECW Champion Jack Swagger met WWE World heavyweight champion John Cena at backstage. Jack Swagger praised himself in front of John Cena but insulted by John Cena. Similarly, Jack Swagger defeated by John Cena after serious wrestling match.

On April 26, 2009 at Backlash 2009, ECW Champion Jack Swagger faced Christian for his title. Jack Swagger dominant wrestling performance but cheated by same trick and lost his ECW Championship title to Christian.

On May 17, 2009 at Judgment Day, Jack Swagger faced ECW Champion Christian for ECW Championship. Jack Swagger hardly tried to defeat Christian but lost this match due to Christian’s cheap pin fall submission.

• July 27, 2009 WWE Raw – Evan Bourne Vs Jack Swagger in Beat the Clock Challenge Match

Jack Swagger got a golden chance to become #1 contender of the WWE Championship as per WWE Raw Guest Host Shaquille O’Neal’s arrangement. Jack Swagger faced Evan Bourne in a Beat the Clock challenge match but Jack Swagger surprised because Evan Burne defeated him.

• August 3, 2009 WWE Raw – Jack Swagger Vs Evan Bourne

Jack Swagger once again faced Evan Bourne by seriously considering destruction of his dream. Jack Swagger successfully dominated Evan Bourne and destroyed very severely. Jack Swagger defeated Evan Bourne but continued destruction. However, Montel Vontavious Porter appeared in this event and saved Evan Bourne.

On August 27, 2009 in WWE Superstars edition, Jack Swagge faced Primo and also faced very tough competition from Primo. However, Jack Swagger defeated Primo. After this wrestling match, Jack Swagger surprised wrestling world by challenging Kofi Kingston for WWE United States Championship just like The Miz.

On September 14, 2009 in Raw edition, Jack Swagger once again teamed up with The Miz to face Primo and WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston in a tag team match and defeated Kofi Kingston even though The Miz returned to backstage by collecting Kofi Kingston’s title belt. On September 21, 2009 in Raw edition, Jack Swagger faced Kofi Kingston and attacked The Miz to steal Kofi Kingston’s U.S title.

On October 5, 2009 in Raw edition, Jack Swagger faced Primo and successfully defeated Primo.
