2008

On January 7, 2008 in Raw, he teamed up with Snitsky to face Chris Jericho in a handicap match as per Raw Roulette’s result but lost this match to his opponent by hitting Chris Jericho with ring bell. After this match, he damaged neck of his opponent with a rope.

2009

On January 25, 2009 at Royal Rumble, John Bradshaw Layfield faced WWE Wold Heavyweight Champion John Cena in WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with his manager Shawn Michaels. John Bradshaw Layfield received a Sweet Chin Music from Shawn Michaels and defeated by WWE World Heavyweight champion John  Cena.

On February 15, 2009 at No Way Out, John Bradshaw Layfield faced Shawn Michaels to become boss forever. However, JBL defeated by Shawn Michaels.

WWE Intercontinental Champion

On March 9, 2009 at Raw edition, John Bradshaw Layfield faced CM Punk and defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion CM Punk to become new WWE Intercontinental Champion. After this match, JBL said thanks to Vickie Guerrero at backstage.

On April 5, 2009 at WrestleMania XXV, John Bradshaw Layfield promised wrestling fans a most dominant victory. WWE Intercontinental champion John Bradshaw Layfield faced Rey Mysterio but lost his title to Rey Mysterio in few seconds. John Bradshaw Layfield shocked and said I Quit to Wrestling. As per JBL’s statement, John Bradshaw Layfield is permanently retired from professional wrestling.
