At WWE’s brand new wrestling pay per view TLC 2009, John Cena lost his WWE Championship to #1 contender Sheamus in a tables match. However, John Cena claimed a rematch in this wrestling edition and challenged Sheamus in tables match for WWE Championship. Sheamus also would like to face John Cena but he did not show interest to face in tables match. Suddenly, John Cena surprised WWE Champion Sheamus by destroying him on a table earlier this edition.

As per their interest, WWE Raw guest host Timbaland granted this wrestling match and introduced both superstars by appearing as special guest ring announcer. John Cena and WWE Champion Sheamus gave excellent starting to this wrestling match but Sheamus dominated his opponent with his dominating performance.

However, John Cena also showed his speciality by showing his wrestling match to Sheamus. Sheamus cheaply injured match referee by pulling match referee with his t shirt. Due to disqualification, World Wrestling Entertainment announced John Cena as winner of this match but Sheamus retained his title. However, John Cena attacked Sheamus from behind and decided to destroy him but Sheamus changed situation with powerful two boot shots.
