Kofi Kingston music hits and appeared in WWE Raw edition on August 17, 2009. WWE Raw brand ring announcer Lilian Garcia introduced WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston to this wrestling edition. WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston entered into wrestling ring and waits for his opponent Carlito. As we already know, Carlito and Rosa Mendes defeated WWE Divas Champion Mickie James and WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston in a mixed tag team match at WWE Superstars on August 13, 2009. In few moments, Carlito music hits. Carlito appeared in this wrestling edition with Rosa Mendes. Carlito and Rosa Mendes  entered into wrestling ring and looked at WWE United States Champion Kofi Kingston. Match referee showed WWE US title and officially started this wrestling match by allowing permission to time keeper to ring the bell.

Kofi Kingston and Carlito reached one corner of the wrestling ring. Later, Carlito locked head of the Kofi Kingston with sidebar head lock. Kofi Kingston reversed Carlito but received a shoulder block. Carlito covered Kofi Kingston to submit pin fall. However, Kofi Kingston rejected his pin fall in order to save this wrestling match. At this time, Kofi Kingston locked head of the Carlito with sidebar head lock. Carlito kicked into kidney area of Kofi Kingston and then reversed him. However, Carlito received a shoulder block from Kofi Kingston. Kofi Kingston covered Carlito and submitted pin fall but Carlito rejected his pin fall. Rosa Mendes carefully observed their wrestling performance by standing at outside of the wrestling ring. Carlito pushed Kofi Kingston with frustration. Carlito decided to use this advantage and covered him to submit pin fall but Kofi Kingston simply rejected his pin fall in order to save his WWE United States Championship. Carlito hits head of the Kofi Kingston with one corner of the wrestling ring. Carlito and Kofi Kingston gave powerful hand shots and leg kicks each other. However, Carlito dominated Kofi Kingston with powerful hand shots and continuous kicks.

Carlito lifted Kofi Kingston and gave an elbow shot to Kofi Kingston surprisingly. Carlito covered Kofi Kingston to submit pin fall but Kofi Kingston rejected his pin fall in order to save this wrestling match. Carlito applied sleeper hold to control the Kofi Kingston. Kofi Kingston gave an elbow shot into his stomach area but Carlito gave a knee shot into his stomach area. Carlito tried to suplex Kofi Kingston but Kofi Kingston injured Carlito with sidebar leg sweep. Rosa Mendes encouraged Carlito to recover from injuries. Carlito received two hand shots and a drop kick. Kofi Kingston damaged back of the Carlito and submitted pin fal but Kofi Kingston rejected his pin fall in order to save this wrestling match. Kofi Kingston gave a powerful close line. Kofi Kingston dropped his two legs on his body. Kofi Kingston covered Carlito to submit pin fall but Carlito rejected his pin fall in order to save this wrestling match.

Carlito reached one corner of the wrestling ring. Kofi Kingston tried to jump over Carlito but Carlito escaped intelligently. However, Kofi Kingston well balanced over second ring ropes. Kofi Kingston reversed Carlito from one corner to opposite corner of the wrestling ring but Carlito reversed situation by reversing him. Carlito tried to attack him but received a powerful legs shot. Kofi Kingston goes top rope and high cross body but Carlito reversed situation and submitted pin fall but Kofi Kingston rejected pin fall in order to save this wrestling match as well as his WWE United States Championship.

Carlito threw Kofi Kingston over ring ropes but Kofi Kingston tried to give a powerful leg shot but Carlito escaped from his kick. Carlito damaged neck of the Kofi Kingston with neck breaker. Carlito covered Kofi Kingston to submit pin fall but Carlito rejected his pin fall in order to save this wrestling match. Carlito decided to finish this wrestling match with backstabber but Kofi Kingston surprised Carlito with super kick. Kofi Kingston covered Carlito and submitted pin fall. Finally, Kofi Kingston defeated Carlito and retained his WWE United States Championship. Lilian Garcia announced Kofi Kingston as WWE United States Champion. Kofi Kingston felt very happy and celebrated his memorable victory with wrestling fans. Wrestling fans also appreciated Kofi Kingston by raising their voice to cheer Kofi Kingston.
