Melina appeared at WWE Smackdown edition on September 11, 2009 to face her opponent Layla. As we already know, Melina defeated Layla twice in previous wrestling events. In other words, Melina defeated Layla on August 14, 2009 and also defeated Layla on August 28, 2009. Now, Layla once again tried Melina by appeared in this Smackdown edition. WWE Women’s Champion Michelle McCool also appeared with broken knee to encourage Layla.

Melina gave good starting to this wrestling match by damaging Layla’s face with face buster. However, Layla recovered from Melina’s domination and damaged Melina’s back. Later, Melina seriously damaged face of the Layla with face buster. Melina made a mistake by jumping over Layla but Layla escaped and injured herself with ring ropes. Michelle McCool injured Melina cheaply. Layla used this advantage and defeated Melina through pin fall. Layla shared her happiness with Michelle McCool.
