Daniel Bryan defeated Cody Rhodes in Champion Vs Champion match on January 2, 2012 Monday night Raw SuperShow.
At January 6, 2012 Friday night Smackdown edition, the American Dragon received support from AJ Lee and Alicia Fox, said to AJ as well as Alicia Fox that no need to worry about Big Show and expressed his love by kissing on AJ’s forehead. After that he met Big Show at backstage during an interview of the Giant, felt very happy by hearing feedback from world’s largest athlete but underestimated him and then ordered Big Show to remove his hand from his shoulder. Luckily, he retained his world heavyweight championship title by defeating Big Show by disqualification when special guest commentator Mark Henry attacks him.
On January 9 Monday night Raw SuperShow, he defeated WWE tag team champion Kofi Kingston in a nontitle champion vs champion match; understood the arrival of Big Show after his match, revealed just like Big Show, he was also not happy about their world title match and satisfied him by granting a rematch under No Disqualification and No Count out rules as per Giant’s interest.
He opened January 13 Friday night Smackdown, received boos from fans but clarified people’s doubts, even impressed them by explaining good reasons, later interrupted by Mark Henry, understood his problem and issued a title match in next week Smackdown if Henry doesn’t involve in his No Disqualification No Count out match against the Giant. Bryan felt very happy when AJ proposes him, later interrupted the conversation between AJ and Big Show, ordered Big Show to leave that place, asked AJ how much she loves him and later faced Big Show in No Disqualification and No Count out match but shocked when Big Show attacked AJ accidentally. He blamed him for his mistake and sent AJ to hospital.
