The entire 2010 year Alberto Del Rio involves in Rey Mysterio’s business by attacking him. At Survivor Series pay per view Team Rey Mysterio defeated Team Alberto Del Rio in five on five tag team. At November 26 Smackdown edition, Del Rio qualified to king of the ring tournament but made Rey Mysterio to lose king of the ring tournament qualifying match. However Rey Mysterio also made Alberto Del Rio to lose Semi finals of king of the ring in November 29 Monday night Raw.

At December 3 Friday night Smackdown event, the high flying Mysterio called Alberto Del Rio and revealed; he got permission from Teddy Long to face him at TLC pay per view, Alberto Del Rio shocked but Rey Mysterio destroyed him with the help of a table.

At Friday night edition on December 17, 2010, Theodore Long doubted about Kane’s presence at TLC pay per view. In fact WWE already decided to conduct Tables, Ladders and Chairs World Heavyweight title match between Edge and Kane. Therefore, Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio decided to utilize this opportunity and deserved title shot. Teddy Long took a decision to conduct a Triple threat World Heavyweight Championship match if Kane does not come to TLC. If Kane comes to TLC, then GM of Smackdown brand decided to conduct a Fatal Four Way Tables, Ladders & Chairs match for WWE World Heavyweight title match. So, officially the chairs match between Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio was cancelled for Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2010 pay per view.
