Rob Van Dam Vs Mr. Anderson at TNA Victory Road 2011
At Genesis on January 9, 2011, Mr. Anderson became new #1 contender and also became new TNA World Heavyweight Champion on same night in another match but lost title to Jeff Hardy at Against All Odds pay per view in a ladder match on February 13, 2011. However, Anderson claimed a rematch but Rob Van Dam got title shot instead of Anderson in February 17, 2011 Thursday night and network puts him as special guest referee for that match. Due to politics in ring, RVD lost title shot. Surprisingly, on March 10, 2011 TNA Wrestling put them in side track of title shot but announced #1 contender’s match between them at Victory Road 2011.
Both wrestling superstars started this main event with punch game, but RVD dominated him with a kick, blocked his challenger’s kick, his head locked by Anderson and received a clothesline from same superstar. Anderson injured himself with elbow drop; similarly RVD injured himself with double leg drop and both wrestling superstars hardly tried to control each other with their amateur wrestling skills. Mr. Anderson applied head lock, then hammer lock, but RVD reversed that hammer lock and then applied side head lock. After that they both forced each other for pin fall. Anderson applied head lock, gave a clothesline, attacked him from behind, combination of punches and kicks at one corner.
Anderson increased pressure on his neck with ring rope, damaged his back with forceful throw towards one corner, clothesline at same corner, kicked into stomach, hits head to one corner but later RVD connected his boot to Anderson’s face perfectly. Rob Van Dam gave shoulder blocks, springboard kick, and rolling thunder; then Anderson left ring and received drop kick and then high flying cross body from Van Dam. He later dropped Anderson on security wall, injured his leg by dropping on security wall when his challengers escapes from it.
Anderson damaged his challenger’s legs with steel ring pole, kicked on head, kicked on knee to further injure them, increased pressure on his knee, punched on his face several times, kicked into stomach powerfully, however RVD opposed him with punch game but Anderson drop kicked on injured knee of RVD and then further injured it just like Ric Flair. RVD gave a elbow kick, boot shot, clotheslines, super kick to face, escaped from his challenger’s finishing move by holding the ring rope, applied head lock but Anderson damaged back of RVD with back suplex.
Anderson did not give chance to him with clothesline, elbow kick to face, swinging neck breaker, Green Bay Plunge to damage his stomach, received elbow kick to his side head and then both superstars injured each other double clothesline. Both superstars exchanged punches, RVD kicked on knee, shoulder blocks powerfully, both superstars injured each other with heads collision. Anderson decided to eliminate him but RVD reversed his plan and both superstars fell down onto floor from ring.
RVD punches Anderson several times, destroyed RVD on ramp with mic check and after that they both were unable to respond to match referee’s ten count and match referee disqualified both of them due to double count out. This match was ended without new #1 contender of TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
