In this match, Edge decided to destroy John Cena to become new WWE World heavyweight champion at Backlash 2009 in a last man standing match.
Edge said, i respect John Cena’s ability but i am going to destroy him this sunday. Edge has nothing if he does not beat John Cena this sunday. Edge said, i have no friends. Edge gave a final warning to John Cena because he is going to put an end to their war. Actually, Edge waits over three years for this battle to close John Cena’s career. Finally, it will be come to an end this sunday. Edge promised wrestling fans, i will walk away as a champion. Edge declared, he will the last man in last man standing match. Edge returned to backstage with serious face.

After this wrestling match, JeffHardy appeared on screen. Jeff Hardy said, i think about myself when i wake up today. Jeff Hardy was in frustrating. Jeff Hardy remembered WrestleMania XXV’s match with his brother Matt Hardy. Jeff hardy said, it is biggest moment in your career Matt. Similarly, you did not career me in stretcher match. Jeff hardy congratulated Matt hardy for his victory. Jeff hardy gave a warning to matt hardy, your over confidence will kill you. Jeff Hardy said, you will see a crazy Jeff hardy this sunday. We already have faced each other in Tables, Ladders, Charis and stretcher matches but we are going to face in an I Quit match. After Backlash 2009, Matt hardy will take rest permanently as per Jeff hardy’s statement.
