Smackdown - January 6, 2012

Smackdown is a second longest running wrestling entertaining program which is Friday night television program of World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE presents its 646th edition at Verizon Arena, North Little Rock, Arkansas on January 3, 2012 but taped for January 6, 2012 Smackdown television program. Storyline of this Friday night Smackdown edition is scripted as per December 30, 2011 Smackdown edition and also according to the previous annual wrestling pay per view Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2011. Similarly, it develops storyline for January 13, 2012 Smackdown edition as well as next professional wrestling main event Royal Rumble 2012. Josh Mathews and Michael Cole were official commentators and Lilian Garcia was official ring announcer.

1. Cody Rhodes retained Intercontinental Championship by defeating Booker T
2. Hornswoggle defeated Heath Slater in Over the top rope challenge
3. Hunico defeated Ted DiBiase
4. Santino Marella defeated Drew McIntyre
5. Epico & Primo defeated Air Boom
6. Tamina defeated Natalya
7. Daniel Bryan defeated Big Show by disqualification

Lilian Garcia announced WWE Intercontinental title match, introduced Booker t. Six Times World Champion Booker T attended to this wrestling edition, interacted with WWE Universe before going to enter into ring and signalled he wants Rhodes title and in few moments WWE Intercontinental Champion came out to defend his title. He surrendered his title to match, match referee shoed it to WWE Universe as well as Booker T.

Match: 1

• Cody Rhodes Vs Booker T for WWE Intercontinental Championship

Master of the Spin-a-Roonie Booker T applied hammerlock, converted it into side headlock, shoulder block and WWE Universe was excited by seeing opening performance of the legend. He later kicked at midsection thrice, forearm smash on neck, connected reverse elbow, turned left hand but Rhodes closed Booker T’s eyes. Dashing Intercontinental Champion knee kicked to midsection at one corner, punched to face, kicked at midsection, applied side headlock, punched to face, another punch to side face, kick to midsection at another corner, another punch and powerfully pushed him towards a corner and injured his backbone.

Rhodes kicked on face, turned hand, elbow drop on shoulder, pulled it down, applied hammerlock but got a reverse elbow to face. Book and Cody exchanged knife edge chops but Book dominated him in that game. The former 5-Time WCW Champion kicked at midsection, back body drop, turned hand, reverse kick to face, knife edge chops, eliminated him to outside but Dashing one hanged with top ropes and entered into ring. However, Legendary Booker T sent him to outside with a clothesline. At outside, he kicked at kidney area but Rhodes kicked on knee. Intercontinental Champion dropped him on barricade and kicked to face.

Cody Rhodes hits head to one corner but got a Harlem Sidekick. King Booker connected a knife edge chop at a corner, elbows to face, got a revere elbow at opposite corner and moonsault from top rope. Because of that Cody’s leg was slightly injured, then kicked to face, several kicks to ribs, punched to face, reverse him, performed full nelson, got some punches to kidney but Book connected a flying forearm smash, clothesline, sidewalk slam, spinebuster, kicked at midsection but Intercontinental Champion escaped from Scissors kick and elbows to side face. However, King Booker escaped from springboard superkick, kicked at midsection, performed Ghetto Blaster but Dashing did not want to lose his title.

The Booker-Man forearm smashes on back, slapped, knee kick to midsection but this time Rhodes escaped from Ghetto Blaster, kicked at knee, punched to face, connected springboard superkick and pinned Booker T to retain his WWE Intercontinental Championship title.

Cody Rhodes felt very happy but Booker T was discouraged. Lilian Garcia promulgated Rhodes is still WWE Intercontinental Champion. Dashing One collected his Intercontinental title from match referee and returned to backstage happily. In ring Booker t was in discouragement but WWE Universe appreciated him for his memorable performance.

Cody Rhodes disrespects Dustin Rhodes

Cody Rhodes walks at backstage happily but his biological brother Dustin Rhodes (Goldust) stopped him, congratulated him for his greatest victory against a legend of all time but Rhodes takes it negative. He said there is reason they don’t speak each other but reminded Goldust said you are nothing but now he is not saying it. There is no secret for his success than Goldust and even he wants more successful wrestler than their father. Dustin Rhodes understood him but if Dustin disagrees with him then Cody does not want to consider him. Cody considered him as a joke and can change it real quick. Intercontinental Champion suggested him to ask Booker T, smiled and left that place.

Theodore Long does business with Zack Ryder, Santino & Drew McIntyre

Zack Ryder thanked Theodore Long for assisting him as Assistant General Manager but Teddy Long corrected him by reminding Ryder is Assistant to the General Manager. As a WWE United States Champion, he decided to move on, reminded how scared he was because of Kane’s actions at past Monday night Raw SuperShow; therefore he decided to take care his own business but would like to replace himself with a suitable person. Theodore Long would like to know about him.

Drew McIntyre came there but Teddy Long shocked and asked Zack that are you serious? He could not believe it, Zack Ryder wants to Drew McIntyre as his new assistant! McIntyre cleared; he came out to take about his business not for assisting him. United States Champion showed Santino Marella as his replacement. WWE Universe felt very happy. Zack Ryder felt very happy and left that place by saying he is yours now. Theodore Long was very happy to take him. Santino Marlla revealed how he assists him. He can update calendar. He can sink his head bath; can fix the paper in printer and reminded Theodore Long announced if McIntyre loses, he decided to fire him. Marella’s opinion is he will lose.

Drew McIntyre seriously considered his opinion but stopped by GM. General Manager cleared that if McIntyre doesn’t win his match then decided to fire Drew. Theodore Long selected Santino Marella as his opponent. If Santino marella wins then he becomes his assistant. Drew would like know if he wins the match. Teddy Long thinks to consider McIntyre not to fire.

Theodore Long plans to spend some time with Aksana

Aksana came there. Theodore Long’s mind is shifted to romantic mood. Teddy Long requested Santino to leave that place. Marella left that place. Aksana said, she was missed him a lot. Similarly, Teddy said. After this Friday night, Teddy Long would like to spend some time with Aksana. Aksana was also interested.

AJ & Alicia Fox wishes Bryan to beat Big Show

AJ Lee and Alicia Fox were at backstage. Fox asked her how her New Year is. AJ replied that’s fine and great. He talked about Daniel Bryan but worried about his match with Big Show. Fox is very positive. In few moments WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan came there. Bryan heard their discussion and reminded by beating Big Show to become new World champion. Alicia would like to leave them alone. Bryan would like to know why she is talking like that but AJ convinced by explaining how she is caring about him. Bryan would like to know whether AJ thinks he can beat Big Show! AJ was in confusion, unable to say anything but Bryan would like to celebrate with her after beating Big Show. He expressed love on her by kissing on her forehead.

Lilian Garcia announced an over the top rope challenge and explained rules of this match. Hornswoggle came out. In few moments Heath Slater came out as his opponent.

• Hornswoggle Vs Heath Slater in Over the Top rope challenge

Hornswoggle said Heath Slater to look at top. Slater looked at top but Hornswoggle kicked on leg. He slapped Heath, bite buttocks; headbutt to midsection, kick to face but Slater seriously considered his actions and threw him aside. Slater punished Hornswoggle by putting boot on neck at a corner, lifted him to top rope and tries to push him to outside but Hornswoggle slapped him on eye. Hornswoggle performed crossbody but caught. Heath Slater decided to eliminate but Hornswoggle reversed his trick by pulling his hair and eliminated him successfully to win the over the top rope challenge.

Hornswoggle in shock. Lilian Garcia promulgated Hornswoggle is winner of this match and match referee raised his hand. Heath Slater seriously considered and attacked him with a big boot and kicked him several times. However, Justin Gabriel came out, performed high flying shoulder block, side suplex and then 450° splash on Heath Slater. Gabriel asked how he is and raised his hand to inform Hornswoggle is victories. WWE Universe liked it and cheers him for his celebration.

Ted DiBiase attended to this wrestling edition. Lilian Garcia announced a wrestling match and introduced him. In few moments, Hunico came out with Camacho in a bicycle. He doesn’t think Ted will have a good time with him and interested to invite him to a party. He later gave microphone to Camacho. Camacho would like to know whether ted wants to disrespect them or not. Hunico said we just have a party.

• Ted DiBiase Vs Hunico

Ted DiBiase performed side headlock takedown but Hunico broke it but DiBiase tosses him with an arm drag twice, applied shoulder breaker and they reached a corner where Hunico pushed DiBiase with arms also punished by Ted. The Fortunate Son blocked punch, then delivered several punches in return, converted headscissors takedown into front slam, got a big boot at a corner and Hunico injured shoulder with one corner. He kicked on back, damaged injured hand further, applied shoulder lock, got some punches, again shoulder lock punishingly; Camacho carefully observes their performance from ring side. The Million Dollar Son performed Samoan drop, escaped from attack at corner, then dropkicked, atomic drop, punched to face, connected high knee, surprised his opponent with rebound clothesline but Hunico pulled down injured hand. Hunico performed a submission move and pinned Ted DiBiase.

Hunico celebrated his victory with Camacho. Lilian Garcia promulgated Hunico as winner of this match. Hunico returned to stage in a bicycle  

Wade Barrett talks about Randy Orton

Wade Barrett talked to trainers to know about condition of Randy Orton. Later he came out to this Friday night Smackdown edition. Lilian Garcia announced a wrestling match, introduced Wade Barrett. In fact he talked to his residential Doctors to know about his medical condition. As per their report, he is complete ok. The Eagle showed what he did to Orton in last week edition. WWE Universe did not liked it. He also enquired Doctors, said that Randy Orton got a severe injury but as per his medical report he is finished. Of course he might come back one day but at that time he may not be like previous days. It is the result of Barrett Barrage.

Wade Barrett plans to win 30 Man tag team match

He later talked about Royal Rumble match but will be taken place at St. Louis which is Randy Orton’s hometown. The hometown hero wants to cheer with fans by eliminating 29 superstars but people see Wade Barrett. He confirmed that there is no signal superstar who can stop him. Similarly he wants to say something but the great white Sheamus interrupted and stood in front of him.

Sheamus and Wade Barrett argued about Royal Rumble

The Celtic Warrior said, what the crack fellow. He knew a person who talks about his victories but just like him he is a sheep header. In fact people talk about those stories for fantasy. He has a problem with him and interested to be biggest one at Royal Rumble. He wants to know his excuses.

Jinder Mahal and Wade Barrett attack Sheamus

Surprisingly, Jinder Mahal came out but Wade Barrett left that ring by leaving him to Jinder Mahal. Mahal slapped the great white. Sheamus seriously considered his action, kicked at midsection, several forearm smashes on back but Barrett attacked him from behind. Jinder took off his coat and also attacked Celtic Warrior. They both kicked at midsection. However, Sheamus attacked them with several short arm clotheslines, then powerslams, decided to perform Celtic cross with Barrett but kicked at midsection by Jinder Mahal. The Celtic Warrior attacked him with clothesline but The Pinnacle surprised the great white with Winds of Change and raised his hand and left that place. In few moments, Jinder Mahal further punished him with camel clutch.

In few moments Drew McIntyre also came to face. As we already know that Drew McIntyre must win this match to protect his career in WWE and Santino Marella also must win this match to become new assistant of Smackdown General Manager.

• Drew McIntyre Vs Santino Marella

McIntyre pushed him twice but Santino stood in front of him. Marella punched his face several times but got a step up kick to midsection. The Chosen one punches on face several times, kicked on face, clothesline at a corner, performed belly to belly back suplex, increased pressure on neck, then kicked at mouth, surprised him with a powerful clothesline, kicked at midsection, punches him, another kick at midsection, lifted him to top rope, forearm smash but match referee advised him not to do it but Marella used it and hits head to steel ring pole. After he connected cobra to Drew and pinned him.

Santino Marella become new assistant of Smackdown General Manager. Lilian Garcia promulgated Santino is winner of this match and Marella involved in celebration. Drew McIntyre explained to match referee.

Theodore Long gave final chance to Drew McIntyre

At locker room, Teddy Long met him but Drew McIntyre explained why he was lost his match. GM does not want to listen to his excuses, saw another failure but gave a final chance to him next week. If Drew again loses to him, then he decided to fire him.

In few moments, Santino Marella came there met GM and said we are going to make beautiful music together   
Epico and Primo with Rosa Mendes were in ring. Lilian Garcia announced a tag team match, introduced them and in few moments WWE tag team champions Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne came out to face them in a tag team match.

• Air Boom Vs Epico & Primo in tag team match

Evan Bourne applied hammerlock but Epico broke it. Epico kicked at midsection, forearm smash on neck but Bourne surprised him with a roundhouse kick and made tag. Air Boom confused Epico but Kofi dropkicked him. However, Epico made Kingston to fall on middle rope. He further punished him by sitting on back but Primo kicked at face illegally. Epico kicked on chest several times and gave tag to Primo. The legal man also kicks on chest but again Epico kicks on chest. He got a punch but dropkicked Kofi Kingston, applied side headlock, got a punch, reverse elbow and crossbody.

Primo and Evan Bourne got tags but Air Bourne dropkicked Primo, high knee to face, performed headscissors takedown, high knee to jaw, attacked Epico, again connected high knee to face, spinning reverse kick, Diving double knee drop on chest but pin fall was interrupted by Epico. Kofi Kingston attacked Epico, decided to perform plancha but Rosa Mendes stand in front of Epico. Epico used this chance, pulled out him from ring. Evan Bourne was shocked but connected step up knee to face, performed Air Bourne but Epico pulled primo to save him. Primo quickly pinned Evan Bourne to win this tag team match.

Epico and Rosa Mendes entered into ring. Lilian Garcia promulgated Epico and Primo are winners of this tag team match. Match referee raised both superstars’ hands but Rosa Mendes raised her men in ring. They involved in celebrating their tag team victory.

Josh Mathews invited #1 contender of WWE World Heavyweight Championship title The Big Show to interview him.

Josh Mathews interviews Big Show but Bryan confronted Big Show

The Big Show felt very happy, shakes hand with Mathews happily and Josh wants to know his thoughts about his championship match. The largest athlete cleared, I never underestimate any opponent and his confidence level is very high. He was unconscious when Daniel Bryan cashes Money In The Bank. However, he regained his consciousness and interested to regain his world title. As per his opinion, Daniel Bryan is a good wrestler but in few moments WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan came there with smiling face. Bryan also confirmed it and assured one day he could become a great wrestler. However, he is not a god given genetic freak. If Bryan has Big Show’s size with his skill, he could be several big shows.

However, Big Show created history being a shortest world champion. The Big Show seriously considered by considering Bryan’s feeling s, put his right hand on shoulder, showed it to Bryan but Daniel Bryan ordered him to off his hand from his shoulder. Big Show did it and then left that place.

Natalya was already in ring. Lilian Garcia announced a divas wrestling match, introduced Natalya and also introduced her opponent Tamina.

• Natalya Vs Tamina

The Anvilette attacked Tamina quickly, punched her several times, kicked at midsection, again several punches, asked her do you want to play win me? Kicked on midsection, planned to apply sharpshooter but Tamina kicked her. Tamina surprised her with crossbody which severely injured both divas. Tamina performed Samoan drop, performed super fly splash like her father Jimmy Snuka and pined Natalya.

Lilian Garcia promulgated Tamina is winner of this match and Tamino returned to backstage satisfyingly.

The world’s strongest man Mark Henry attended to this wrestling main event but wrestling fans booed him. Lilian Garcia required people to welcome him but people don’t. However, Mark Henry did not consider them, argued with people and joined with Smackdown commentators as special guest commentator. Lilian Garcia announced WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. The world’s largest athlete came out, presented his cap to one little fan and entered into ring with wrestling fans awesome support. Similarly, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan was also attended to defend his title in this wrestling event and got outstanding ovation from fans. Lilian Garcia introduced The Challenger and also introduced Champion Bryan. They both got people’s support.

• Big Show Vs Daniel Bryan for WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Daniel escaped from Big Show for some time, delivered a roundhouse kick but finally Big Show caught him. Big Show punched at midsection at one corner, open arm chops on chest, lifted his body with his head, headbutts to face, tosses him aside and the Bryan left that ring. Bryan tried to control him with repeated roundhouse kicks but Big Show pushed him powerfully and Bryan was fallen to outside. Big Nasty went to outside but Bryan entered into ring quickly, dropkicked powerfully but caught by performing Plancha. However, World Heavyweight Champion pushed him towards steel ring pole and succeeded in injuring him.

He connected high knee to Big Show but world’s largest athlete responded to 10 count. The extreme Giant blocked his kick, delivered an open arm chop but The Best Wrestler in the World kicked on knee to control his opponent domination. The Dagger was successful in controlling Big Show with a repeated roundhouse kicks, then big boot to oncoming largest athlete, diving double knee block but the world’s largest giant pushed him to refuse pin but champion was rolled to outside. The special guest commentator ordered Bryan to enter into ring. Big Show pulled The American Dolphin with single hand but got a roundhouse kick.

Big Show injured him by pulling down head on top rope but received an open arm chop while he performing diving move. The Giant controlled him with clotheslines, speared champion but champion does not want to lose this match. The Big Show decided to chokeslam him but Bryan applied Guillotine choke. He later applied LeBell Lock with bleeding mouth but Giant broke it with his power and tried to knocks champion out but Bryan left that ring. Bryan seriously considered commentary of Henry and argued with him. Mark Henry seriously considered and pushed WWE World Heavyweight Champion powerfully. Match referee disqualified Big Show and considered Daniel Bryan is winner of this match. The world’s largest athlete was discouraged.

Lilian Garcia promulgated Daniel Bryan is winner as well as still WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Daniel Bryan continued celebrating his victory with WWE Universe. Big Show and Mark Henry were in shocking stage. They both argued each other but Bryan kissed his title at stage. In this way World Wrestling Entertainment ended its first weekly Smackdown edition of 2012 year.
