World Wrestling Entertainment conducted weekly WWE Raw edition on January 5, 2009 at New Orleans. Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole are official commentators for this WWE Raw edition. Lillian Garcia is official ring announcer for this wrestling event.
WWE ring announcer Lillian Garcia introduced Chris Jericho and Randy Orton to WWE Raw fans. Chris Jericho and Randy Orton appeared in this wrestling event to share their opinion on Shawn Michaels as well as John Bradshaw Layfield. Chris Jericho took microphone. Chris Jericho said, he and Randy Orton come to this wrestling event to address last week Fatal Four Way Elimination Wrestling match. Chris Jericho said the rules of Fatal Four Way Elimination are every man for himself. However, Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels worked for John Bradshaw Layfield by compromising with boss JBL and broke rule of Fatal Four Way Elimination match. Randy Orton carefully listen Chris Jericho’s anxious feelings.
Randy Orton also took microphone to share his feelings on last week Fatal Four Way Elimination match as well as Heart Break kid Shawn Michaels. Randy Orton said, they feel John Bradshaw Layfield should be removed from Royal Rumble 2009 in Championship match by John Cena. Similarly, Shawn Michaels also does not have a chance to face in a title match again. Chris Jericho and Randy Orton decided to face John Cena in this wrestling event. Chris Jericho said he and Randy Orton played last week Fatal Four Way Elimination match by following rules but John Bradshaw Layfield and Shawn Michaels corrupted last week match. In few moments, John Bradshaw Layfield music hits.
Shawn Michaels and John Bradshaw Layfield come in lemo. Shawn Michaels and John Bradshaw Layfield entered into wrestling ring. Wrestling fans chanted Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels name. John Bradshaw Layfield took microphone and said he got a chance to face John Cena at Royal Rumble 2009 for WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Chris Jericho insulted Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels said it is his personal issue but there is no chance to Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels to participate in WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Randy Orton responded to Shawn Michaels’ statement and blamed Shawn Michaels for his worst contract with John Bradshaw Layfield.
Shawn Michaels became silent. In few moments, WWE General Manage of Monday Night Raw and WWE Executive Vice President Stephanie McMahon came with a microphone. Stephanie McMahon supported Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels because Shawn Michaels lost his wrestling match to John Bradshaw Layfield with a close line. So, she does not want to take any action on Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels. So, John Bradshaw Layfield could face WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena at Royal Rumble 2009. Stephanie McMahon said it is her show. Therefore, Randy Orton and John Bradshaw Layfield should follow her decision. However, Stephanie McMahon said, Randy Orton and Chris Jericho could get WWE World Heavyweight Championship title shot at WrestleMania XXV by winning Royal Rumble 2009.
Chris Jericho became very angry and blamed Stephanie McMahon. Chris Jericho said they should be in Royal Rumble but they lost title shot mainly due to Shawn Michaels’ actions. Chris Jericho said, Shawn Michaels should not be appeared in Royal Rumble match. Stephanie McMahon said, that is not right decision. In few moments, John Bradshaw Layfield responded and said Shawn Michaels should be at Royal Rumble to work in his corner. Stephanie McMahon is not very happy internally about Shawn Michaels and John Bradshaw Layfield’s agreement. Stephanie McMahon announced a tag team match between Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels and WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena.

Todd Grisham appeared on screen to interview WWE Intercontinental Championship Title’s challenger CM Punk. Todd Grisham rememebered CM Punk about Ric Flair’s attack after CM Punk’s victory. Todd Grisham asked CM Punk’s prepared about his huge match. CM Punk shared his favorite Intercontinental Champions Ricky Steamboat, Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect. CM Punk decided to become one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions just like them. CM Punk said, William Regal beated him at 2008 King Of The Ring finals. CM Punk decided to become new WWE Intercontinental Champion in this new year.

William Regal and Layla felt very happy to retain WWE Intercontinental Championship by disqualification. However, WWE Executive Vice President Stephanie McMahon appeared on screen and felt unhappy about first title match in this match. Stephanie McMahon seriously considered William Regal’s disqualication and announced another WWE Intercontinental Championship match between William Regal and CM Punk in next week Raw edition but William Regal should not be diqualified as per Stephanie McMahon statement. CM Punk felt very happy and planned for next match.

John Bradshaw Layfield wants to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania XXV. John Bradshaw Layfield offered more offers to Shawn Michaels for his wife as well as his kids.
Randy Orton talked with Cody Rhodes and Sim Snuka at backstage. Randy Orton encouraged Cody Rhodes and Sim Snuka to win their wrestling match. Randy Orton remembered Cody Rhodes and Sim Snuka’s fathers as Hall of Famers just like his father. So, Randy Orton does not wish to accept their failure. In few moments, Manu came to talk something with Randy Orton. Manu requested Randy Orton another chance to prove himself. Randy Orton wondered by listing Manu’s request. Manu remembered Randy Orton about his failure. Randy Orton became angry and said “What Did you say?”. Randy Orton said, he gave an opportunity to associate with him. Randy Orton revealed his glorious victories means Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and WrestleMania. According to Randy Orton statement, Manu does not achieve anything. Randy Orton remembered Manu’s father as Samoan but Randy Orton insulted Manu’s father. Randy Orton does not wish to give membership of Legacy. Manu was frustrated about Randy Orton’s decision.
Dolph Ziggler met WWE Diva Mickie James and introduced himself to her. In few moments, Rey Mysterio 619 and Kofi Kingston walk at backstage by discussing about their tag team match.
