On February 15, 2009 at No Way Out pay per view, WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena lost his title to Edge in Raw elimination chamber match. However, John Cena claimed a rematch with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge on February 16, 2009 Raw. However, Edge did not grant a rematch and wants to take rest for a week or month. However, John Cena gave a warning to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge in front of WWE Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero.
On March 9, 2009 in Raw edition, WWE interim General Manager Vickie Guerrero officially conducted an official contract signing between The Big Show and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge. However, Vickie Guerrero surprised Edge and The Big Show by including John Cena due to her personal problem. On same night, John Cena played the video which shows the affair between Vickie Guerrero and Big Show. As per official contract, WWE granted a triple threat match between John Cena, The Big Show and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge.
